Booking wedding vendors can feel exciting and a little overwhelming. You want to make sure you are choosing the right people to bring your wedding vision to life. Whether it is your photographer, florist, DJ, caterer, or planner, asking the right questions can save you stress later. After working with many couples over the years, I can tell you that being prepared when you meet your potential vendors makes a difference. These questions will help you know if someone is a good fit for you and your wedding.

1. Are you available on my date?

This sounds obvious, but check before anything else. Popular vendors often book more than a year in advance, so you want to confirm your date is open before spending too much time on other details.

2. What is included in your pricing?

Ask for a clear breakdown of what you are getting for the price. This includes hours of coverage, number of people on the team, travel costs, and any extras. You do not want surprise charges later.

3. Have you worked at my venue before?

If they have, they might already know the lighting, layout, and staff. If not, ask how they handle new venues. Experienced vendors can adapt easily, but it is nice to know their process.

4. Can I see examples of your work?

For photographers, florists, and bakers, looking at full examples instead of just a highlight reel will show you what they really deliver. For DJs or planners, ask for videos or reviews from past clients.

5. How do you handle problems on the wedding day?

Things happen. Weather changes. A microphone stops working. A dress zipper breaks. Ask how they handle unexpected issues so you know they will stay calm and keep things moving.

6. Do you have references or reviews?

Hearing from other couples can tell you a lot about what it is like to work with them. Check for consistency in how people describe their experience.

7. What is your booking process and payment schedule?

Find out how much is due upfront and when the final payment is expected. Ask about their contract, cancellation policy, and what happens if you need to change your date.

8. How many weddings do you take on in a weekend?

Some vendors only book one wedding per weekend so they can focus fully on you. Others may do multiple events. It is good to know what to expect for attention and energy.

9. Who will be there on the wedding day?

Sometimes the person you meet with is not the one who will show up on your wedding day. Make sure you know exactly who will be there and how experienced they are.

10. Why do you love what you do?

This one is less about logistics and more about connection. You are trusting these people with one of the biggest days of your life. Working with vendors who are passionate about what they do makes the day so much better.

The more prepared you are with questions, the more confident you will feel in your choices. Trust your gut as well as the answers you hear. If someone makes you feel at ease, communicates clearly, and understands your vision, you are probably in good hands.
