You’ve planned everything. You’ve booked your vendors. The timeline is solid. But even the best planned wedding days have little hiccups. A stain, a headache, a loose button. Small things, but stressful when you’re in a white dress and on a tight schedule. That’s where a wedding day emergency kit comes in, and it’s not just for the bride. It’s for anyone in the wedding party who might need a quick fix. After photographing tons of weddings, I’ve seen this little bag save the day more times than I can count.
Here’s a practical list of what to pack so you’re ready for just about anything.
Essentials You’ll Definitely Want
1. Safety pins
Loose straps or broken zippers happen more often than you’d think. Pack a handful.
2. Sewing kit
A small one with needle, thread (white and black at least), and scissors can be a life saver.
3. Stain remover pen or wipes
Makeup, food, dirt—you’ll want something that works fast and doesn’t soak your clothes.
4. Pain reliever
Headaches, cramps, or sore feet from standing. Bring Tylenol, Advil, or whatever works best for you.
5. Bandaids and blister pads
New shoes are cute but not always kind. These are a must.
6. Hair ties and bobby pins
Wind, dancing, or humidity can mess with even the best updo. Having extras is a no-brainer.
7. Clear deodorant
One that won’t stain your dress. Just a quick refresh before you walk down the aisle or before portraits.
Makeup and Beauty Fixes
8. Lip balm or lipstick
Whatever shade you’re wearing that day—make sure it’s in the kit for touch-ups.
9. Blotting papers or powder
Especially helpful for outdoor summer weddings or oily skin.
10. Tissues
For happy tears, of course. But also for blotting, fixing makeup, or anything in between.
11. Small mirror
Great for quick checks or makeup fixes when there’s no bathroom nearby.
Random Things That Actually Help
12. Double-sided tape
Keeps straps and necklines in place.
13. Super glue or fashion tape
It’s come in handy for fixing shoes and even bouquet ribbons more than once.
14. Lint roller
Especially if you have pets at home or are wearing black.
15. Phone charger or power bank
You won’t be on your phone much, but someone will be. And you might want photos later in the day.
16. Straws
If you want to sip water or a drink without smudging lipstick. A small thing, but helpful.
You might not need all of this, but having a wedding emergency kit nearby gives you one less thing to worry about. Ask your maid of honor or someone close to you to be in charge of it. That way you don’t even have to think about it once the day starts.
