MARYAN & SOFIYA
PROPOSAL | LINCOLN, NEBRASKA
Some moments just feel meant to be. Maryan’s proposal to Sofiya at the Pillars in Pioneers Park was one of those evenings that felt perfectly timed with nature itself. The golden Nebraska sunset, the quiet reflection on the water, and the soft breeze through the tall grass all came together to set the scene for something truly special.
The Pillars at Pioneers Park is one of Lincoln’s most peaceful and romantic spots. It sits high enough to catch the sunset perfectly, with views stretching across the open fields and the large pond below. For this proposal, Maryan went all out. He decorated the area with white flowers that lined the stone path, keeping everything simple, elegant, and timeless. The flowers added just the right amount of softness to the rustic stone and green surroundings.
As the sun began to dip behind the horizon, the sky turned into warm shades of orange and pink, creating a glow that made the moment feel almost cinematic. Maryan led Sofiya to the spot overlooking the pond, surrounded by nature and the quiet hum of the evening. When he got down on one knee, you could see the emotion in both of their faces, pure surprise and joy. It was one of those moments where time slows down, even if just for a few seconds.
After she said yes, the two shared a few quiet minutes together, soaking in everything around them. The last bit of sunlight reflected off the water, and the white flowers caught the glow of the fading day. It couldn’t have been planned any better.
I love photographing proposals like this because they’re filled with real emotion and genuine connection. Every reaction, every laugh, every tear, those are the details that tell the story. Maryan and Sofiya’s gallery captures all of it, from the nerves leading up to the question to the quiet moments that followed as they walked through the park hand in hand.
If you’re planning to propose in Lincoln, Pioneers Park is an incredible spot to consider. The open landscapes, sunset views, and calm atmosphere make it feel private while still being beautifully scenic. Whether it’s at the Pillars, near the pond, or along one of the hidden trails, there’s no shortage of romantic spots for a moment like this.
