Spring is one of my favorite seasons for maternity photography in Lincoln Nebraska, and the Monich family’s session at Pioneers Park was a perfect example of why. The park was alive with color, the tall green grass swayed gently in the breeze, and the warm evening light made everything glow. It was the perfect backdrop to capture this special season in their lives as they wait to welcome their newest baby.


The Monich family arrived looking relaxed and happy. Their two daughters were excited to explore the field and be part of the photos. I always love including siblings in maternity sessions, because it tells such a complete family story. These girls were full of personality, and it was so sweet to see them hugging their mom’s baby bump and laughing together in the open field.


We walked through the tall grass near one of my favorite open areas of Pioneers Park. In the spring, this part of the park feels almost magical. The bright greens of the grass, soft pastel wildflowers, and warm sunlight create a scene that is beautiful without any extra setup. For maternity photos, this natural setting works so well because it keeps the focus on the family while still giving that soft, romantic look.


The Monich family’s outfits worked perfectly with the setting. Soft neutral tones paired with subtle patterns looked timeless and natural in the tall grass. The girls wore light dresses that flowed in the wind, which added movement and a playful feel to the images. Their mom looked stunning in a long maternity dress that highlighted her baby bump while still being comfortable for walking through the field.


What made this session so special was how genuine it felt. The Monich family wasn’t overly posed. They played with their daughters, shared hugs, and enjoyed the warm spring air. These are the kinds of moments I love to capture because they will mean so much years from now—when the girls are grown and the memories of this spring become even more precious.

The wide open fields, tall green grass, and soft golden light create the perfect natural backdrop for maternity photos, family portraits, and even engagement sessions.
